Day & Vocational Services

Who we are

Day One East is a day and vocational services program offering a balance of work and recreational opportunities in a structured environment.  Our daily activities provide our consumers purpose in attending the program and allow them to interact with both staff and each other creating the least restrictive environment possible.  This special and attentive care gives our consumers an opportunity to feel comfortable and at home making them want to return every day.  Our program offers specific and unique services such as transportation and hot meals to our consumers. This environment promotes each individual's strengths, abilities and preferences and helps with participating as an active community member. 

Who we serve

We serve adults with a primary diagnosis of Intellectual Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and with co-occurring disorders; individuals with needs of ambulatory aids such as wheel-chairs, walkers or canes; American Sign Language and limited bi-lingual communication capabilities available upon request. We also serve individuals presenting with Alzheimer's disease or Dementia.

We expand horizons by developing life's domains and offering the opportunity to integrate with society through living, learning, working and participating.

  • Behavior Management Planning;
  • Permanency/Transition Planning;
  • Crisis Management Services;
  • On-Going Nursing Services;
  • Coordination of Laboratory Services;
  • Dietary Meal Planning;
  • Individual Dietary Consultation Options;
  • Individual Therapy;
  • Meals: Lunch / Snack;
  • Recreation/Leisure Resources;
  • Pharmacy Coordination Services;
  • Transportation Services;
  • Counseling Services;
  • Linkage Coordination to any service required or requested;

What we do every day is provide our consumers with an activity schedule to include:

  • Socialization-Emotional Skills
  • Exercise Movement
  • Education
  • Leisure Activities
  • Pre-Vocational
  • Community Outings

We also provide our consumers with pre-vocational and vocational opportunities every day to include:

  • Housekeeping
  • Recycling
  • Interior Design
  • Food Service
  • Food Sales
  • Bakery
  • Community Employment
  • Landscaping
  • Office/Clerical

Our staff includes the following personnel:

  • Access to On-Call Registered Nurse

  • Day Program Instructors

  • Consultation with a Dietician

Our goal

Our goal is to see our participants grow to be able live and work in the least restrictive community setting and as independent as possible.

 

Office Hours:
7 :00am to 4:30pm
Monday through Friday

Program Hours:
8:00am to 2:30pm
Monday through Friday

Funding sources

Funding opportunities are available through Milwaukee County Family Care, Community Care, iCare, IRIS, Disability Services Division, Private Pay, School District, Corrections and Surrounding Counties.
