Our
group homes are four-bedroom, eight-bed dwellings designed for optimum
safety and supervision of our children. Large windows allow for natural
lighting during the day, and built-in fixtures light the home after dark.
The living area follows the “great room” concept, with kitchen,
dining and living rooms all opening into one space. A smaller Therapy
Room is set apart for privacy during visits or counseling sessions. The
residents share spacious bathrooms, linen/coat closets, and a large storage
area for seasonal items.

Home are located
throughout the Freeport neighborhoods, close to shopping and recreational
activities. Each home has a yard and garden area. Parking areas are located
off-street on each property and are handicap-accessible. Each home is
equipped with their own van, and our children and adults are transported
daily to school (Children), Day Training (Adults), or other activities
by our qualified staff.
Prior to
opening, each home is inspected by State health, fire, and safety personnel.
Willowglen is held to the highest standards of safety by the Illinois
Department of Children and Family Services, by the Illinois Department
of Human Services, and by our own policy guidelines to insure a quality
living environment for our children and adults.
Currently, Willowglen Academy
- Illinois operates four children group homes and three adult group homes.
Our newest adult group home is expected to open it's doors on October
16, 2006.
