Education
Willowglen Academy-Illinois
students present a diverse range of special educational needs. A structured
environment provides students with opportunities to achieve a greater
degree of independence as individual academic needs, self confidence,
socially responsible behavior, interpersonal skills and problem-solving
techniques are developed. The academic levels and life skills needs of
the students, (as indicated in their Individual Education Plans) determine
assessment procedures, classroom curriculum, and instructional and behavioral
approaches.
All Willowglen
Academy-Illinois teachers are special education certified. Also, there
are aides in each classroom. Resources used to enhance Willowglen Academy-Illinois's
life skills curriculum include: Title 1 services in reading and math,
computers, speech and language services; psychiatric and psychological
consultation and inter-agency collaboration. The school schedule consists
of a 216-day, year-round program.
