Treatment Goals and Time Frames

A Mental Health assessment and an Individual Treatment Plan are formulated within 30 days after admission to determine a permanency plan that includes a tentative discharge date and placement.

The Individual Treatment Plans are developed cooperatively with the Willowglen Academy-Illinois treatment team, referent, family and resident. Treatment plans are reviewed and updated on a regular basis.

The average length of stay for residents varies, depending on the resident's level of functioning and severity of development and disability.

Education

Willowglen Academy-Illinois students present a diverse range of special educational needs. A structured environment provides students with opportunities to achieve a greater degree of independence as individual academic needs, self confidence, socially responsible behavior, interpersonal skills and problem-solving techniques are developed. The academic levels and life skills needs of the students, (as indicated in their Individual Education Plans) determine assessment procedures, classroom curriculum, and instructional and behavioral approaches.

All Willowglen Academy-Illinois teachers are special education certified. Also, there are aides in each classroom. Resources used to enhance Willowglen Academy-Illinois's life skills curriculum include: Title 1 services in reading and math, computers, speech and language services; psychiatric and psychological consultation and inter-agency collaboration. The school schedule consists of a 216-day, year-round program.
