Clients to be placed at Willowglen Academy-South
Carolina, Inc., fall within the categories of developmentally
disabled, emotionally disturbed, mentally ill, dependent, neglected
and in need of supervision. Sub-categories include psychosis,
mental retardation and/or behavior disorders. DSM IV/ICD-9CM categories
including, but not limited to:
- Psychosis
- Affective Disorders
- Schizophrenic Disorders
- Personality Disorders
- Attention Deficit Disorders
- Mixed Specific Developmental Disorders
- Pervasive Developmental Disorder
- Mental Retardation
Clients with no clinical diagnosis
on admission will be considered if they fall into one of the special
education areas of Emotionally Disturbed, Learning Disabled or
Behavior Disorder.

Referrals shall be made to the Director of
Admissions. Such referrals initially may be verbal and/or written
in nature, and include the necessary historical and evaluative information,
including but not limited to:
- social history
- psychological information
- psychiatric information
- medical history
- medication history
- education history
Clients not generally accepted are those having
a sole problem of profound mental retardation, non-ambulatory, or
pregnant at time of admission. Clients with severe character disorders
and a chronic delinquency pattern of behavior would typically be
considered inappropriate for admission.
