Psychosocial Rehabilitation provides highly structured therapeutic clinical
day program services that contain intensive supervision and services.
The target population is severely emotionally disturbed, aggressive,
anti-social and multi-handicapped children or adolescents. These
children are not able to function in the public school setting or
a less restrictive environment due to the intensity or severity
of their current emotional problems, behavior disorders and/or acting
out behavior. The treatment focus is behavioral, educational and
psychosocial in orientation.
The goal of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation is to enable the child to
show significant reduction in the behavior that has caused their
removal from regular school and social programming and enable
them to return to a less restrictive setting in the mainstream
of society. In addition, it is designed to help children develop
problem solving and coping strategies and skills to resolve future
conflicts in a more appropriate manner when they return to a less
structured setting. Finally, the Psychosocial Rehabilitation will increase
their ability to engage in developmentally and socially appropriate
activities and increase their capability to interact appropriately
with adults and peers both in the community and school settings.

All programming and interventions
are tailored to the individual child based on age and current presenting
problems and diagnosis. The programming will be actively shared
with the parents/guardians of the child, the referring agency representative
and their local school district. The Psychosocial Rehabilitation is open
five days a week between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The unit
of service will be equal to one-day treatment.
The Willowglen Academy SC Psychosocial Rehabilitation serves the residents
of the Willowglen Academy SC Therapeutic Behavioral Services - High Management and is
also open to the students in the Williamsburg, Clarendon, Florence,
and Sumter Counties' Schools in South Carolina.
